Mr. Richard E. Sexton
Superintendent of Catholic Schools
I am the Superintendent of Catholic Schools serving
24 Catholic, private schools in the Central Valley of California. As chief
administrative officer for the Catholic schools in Merced, Madera, Fresno,
Tulare, Kings, and Kern Counties, I support 22 elementary schools, 16 licensed
preschools, and two high schools with a total enrollment of 6,000+ students.
The Western Association of School and Colleges (WASC) and the Western Catholic
Educational Association (WCEA) accredit all these schools.
These schools provide parents with an education for their children that stresses religious formation within the Catholic tradition, academic excellence within a safe and nurturing environment, caring and effective discipline, the development of intrinsic moral values, a sense of faith community, recognition of the student's individual talents and needs, site-based management, and parental involvement in the school's governance and leadership.
