Facts
about Immigration
SOME CIVIL FACTS:
Mexico has much corruption and drug dealing
the drug dealers are a government and army
of their own
many Mexicans are hungry, homeless, jobless
some poor Mexicans are willing to face
danger and darkness, hoping for a better life
they know they are acting against US law
they know there are no guarantees for their
future
they know they may be exploited
they still feel it is worth it, living in
their own nation is that difficult
some of them send money to their families
in Mexico
all of them keep at least some of their
earnings in order to live here
some of them pay taxes and some of them
receive benefits
some would like to return to their home,
some find living in the U.S. is a good thing
some of them act criminally
most of them contribute to our economy
through work Americans for various reasons do not do
BUT SOME OTHER FACTS:
the US government has the obligation of
safeguarding the well-being of its people
its primary concern is its citizens, their
economic, social, political vitality, which includes
creating
jobs, providing housing, guaranteeing education and health care for its
citizens
a secondary concern would be the well-being
of other nations, especially those close-by,
if
not for altruistic reasons, then for the selfish reason of achieving security,
because
a disturbed, destitute national community is similar to a disturbed, destitute
individual
the ideal way to help other nations is, by
using economic means or political suasion,
to
encourage their own development for the sake of their own citizens
failing this, a nation should be willing to
help individuals from such a nation to the extent that it can
ONE CATHOLIC FACT:
we are called to be our brothers keeper,
to love our neighbor, to respect all of Gods children,
to give food and clothing and housing and help to the needy, for this is the Kingdom of God.
